The City of La Cañada Flintridge is launching a Hometown Heroes Program to recognize the community’s men and women who are currently serving or are veterans of the Country’s Armed Forces. Community members are invited to fill out an application to nominate a service member whose photos will be featured on light pole banners around the City. The banners will pay tribute to the sacrifices service members have made in serving our Country and will feature the service member’s full name, photograph and branch of service.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Hometown Heroes Banner Program to the residents of La Cañada Flintridge,” said LCF’s Public Safety Coordinator, Jennifer Burghdorf. “As a veteran myself, it is a privilege to spearhead this program that provides a living tribute to our City’s military personnel and acknowledges their hard work and dedication in keeping our nation safe.”

In order to qualify, honorees must meet the following requirements:

  • Military personnel currently serving, veterans who have served or veterans of the past; and
  • Be a current La Cañada Flintridge resident OR have an immediate family member who is a current resident;
  • Honoree must have lived in La Cañada Flintridge some point prior to their military service.

Applications for the 2023-2024 year will be open until 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 20. Applications must be completed in their entirety with proof of eligibility submitted online, in-person or emailed to jburghdorf@lcf.ca.gov
