The City of La Canada Flintridge is proud to announce the release of a new crime prevention diagram explicitly designed for residential buildings. Developed in collaboration with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, this double-sided checklist is an invaluable tool for homeowners to safeguard their properties and enhance community safety.

This initiative underscores the City’s commitment to proactive crime prevention strategies and fostering a secure environment for all residents. Homeowners can take tangible steps to fortify their homes against potential security threats and emergencies by providing a comprehensive checklist.

Key features of the crime prevention diagram include:

  1. Exterior Security Measures: Guidance on securing entry points such as doors, windows, and garage access to deter unauthorized access.
  2. Interior Security Measures: Guidance on securing interior belongings, utilizing innovative technology to remain alert on activities while you are aware.
  3. Landscaping Tips: Recommendations for maintaining landscaping to improve visibility and discourage hiding spots for intruders.
  4. Home Lighting: Suggestions for adequate exterior lighting to illuminate dark areas and enhance visibility during nighttime hours.

Mayor Gunter expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative effort, stating, “The release of this crime prevention diagram exemplifies our dedication to working hand in hand with law enforcement agencies and fire departments to promote a safer and more resilient community. By empowering residents with practical tools and resources, we can collectively strengthen our defenses against potential threats.”

The City encourages all residents to utilize the crime prevention diagram as part of their regular safety assessments and to share it with neighbors and community members. Together, we can build a safer La Canada Flintridge for generations.
