The City of La Cañada Flintridge is proud to announce the commencement of an 8-week Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course in collaboration with the County of Los Angeles Fire Department. The in-person training sessions will occur over eight consecutive Wednesdays, starting from March 27, 2024.

The CERT program equips residents with essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters within their communities. By partnering with the County of Los Angeles Fire Department, the City aims to enhance local preparedness efforts and empower residents to safeguard their neighborhoods actively.

This comprehensive training will cover various aspects of disaster response, including:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety
  • Safety and life-saving skills
  • Course Review and Disaster Simulation

Each session will provide hands-on training and interactive learning experiences facilitated by certified County of Los Angeles Fire Department instructors.

The City of La Cañada Flintridge encourages residents to register for the CERT training course and become certified volunteers in emergency response. There is no age restriction to participate. However, please follow the age group policy below:

  • Anyone 18 or older
  • 16/17 years old (with parental consent)
  • 15 years or younger (with parent attending)

Upon finishing the program, participants will receive a CERT Basic Training completion certificate. To receive a certificate of completion, participants must complete the entire course.
