Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the State of California, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) set a new threshold for the implementation of a revised Health Order. As part of the Southern California Region, hospital intensive care unit availability has dropped below the 15% threshold, thus, the Regional Stay at Home Order was activated at 11:59 pm on December 06, 2020. The CDPH Regional Stay at Home Order requires the following (in addition to the points noted in COVID Alert #21 posted on November 30):

  • The closure of personal care services, including hair salons and barbershops.
  • In addition to limiting indoor occupancy to a maximum of 20%, Lower-Risk Retail Businesses must conduct entrance metering of customers. Special hours should be instituted for seniors and others with chronic conditions or compromised immune systems.
  • Drive-In Movie Theaters and Drive in Events are recommended to close. Those that remain open must adhere to the conditions listed in the respective appendix of the Health Order.
  • Wherever possible, vehicle parades should be canceled for the duration of the order. Parades may only be held under the conditions set forth in the respective appendix of the Health Order.

The Order is effective from 11:59 pm on December 06, 2020 until at least 11:59 pm on December 27, 2020. The Order may be extended if the projections of the Southern California Region’s total available ICU bed capacity remains at less than 15%.
