La Cañada Flintridge, CA – On Monday, March 6, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) hosted a Town Hall to address Annual Defensible Space (Brush) Inspection notices and covered the 2023 Brush Clearance Program.
Recently homeowners living in Fire Hazard Severity Zones received an Annual Brush Clearance Notice informing them that their property would be subject to a brush inspection. Inspections in La Cañada Flintridge will begin on May 1, 2023 and all homeowners will receive an inspection report showing whether their parcel is either compliant or has violations that must be corrected. For more information the City recommends residents contact the LACoFD Brush Clearance Unit, Prevention Services Bureau at (626) 969-2375.
“The Brush Clearance Program is intended to keep our residents safe and protect property. Creating defensible space gives our firefighters the opportunity to safely defend structures in wind driven fires,” explains Mayor Keith Eich. “The City appreciates the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s diligence in this matter and for hosting a forum to answer resident questions.”
LACoFD will continue to educate residents on wildfire resilience and offer additional information through their website.
If you received a Brush Inspection Notice, the City encourages residents to review the Town Hall presentation slides for an overview of the program and next steps.
